New York, day 3 and 4
Day three started with a trek to find dim sum. Jeff and I love dim sum and there is no good place to get it in Boise so when we are in a big city it's one of those things we often do. It was an easy subway ride and walk to the restaurant and the dim sum was delicious!
After stuffing ourselves completely, we were back to walking. We walked past the financial district to the Brooklyn Bridge. This is a lovely bridge. The cables form a cool looking lattice and there is a large pedestrian/bike walkway that is above the cars. The view back at the city is wonderful, you can see the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Bridge. Definitely a worthwhile walk!
Looking back at the financial district from the bridge through the cables. You can see the new World Trade Center building.
The Manhattan bridge.
Looking up through the cables.
Back towards the downtown area with the Empire state building.
Looking at the Manhattan bridge from the DUMBO area. I'm not sure what DUMBO stands for but its a pretty neighborhood and was nice to walk around.

From here we headed inland and found ice cream on our way back to the subway. It was time to once again get cleaned up and head out to the theater.
We saw the Book of Mormon which was completely different than Hamilton but wonderful in it's own way. it very much went for the shock factor and had some pretty outrageous lines and was completely hilarious.
We did not get as dressed up for this show but here are our cute pics.
After the show Jeff suggested we go out and sing some Japanese style karaoke. It was one of the things I really wanted to do in Japan but somehow it never happened. So I was game! Japanese style karaoke you get your own little room with it's own screen and song books and no one else hears you but the people in your party. This is nice if you don't sing all that well, get nervous or just don't want to wait for an hour between songs. So it was just Jeff and I in our little room. They also bring drinks to your in your room. We had a great time and were there for about 2 hours. There was much laughing, some terrible renditions of Broadway tunes and glam rock ballads. I took a couple pictures but the one below is the only one I wasn't laughing so hard that it was blurry. No, Jeff isn't in pain. He just looks that way when he sings ;-)
We got up the next morning and headed over to Grand Central Station for breakfast. It is a beautiful huge building and it was fun to check it out and there were plenty of breakfast options. Since we slept in, we missed all the commuters and it wasn't crowded.
That was really all we had time for before we had to get packed up and head out to the bus and from there to the airport.
It was a fantastic mini vacation. It was a great little break from my baby and I think she had a good time with her Grammy and Grandad. New York is dirty, expensive and crowded but it is also a place of history, art and is a fantastic melting pot. Walking though the streets you can hear a dozen different languages being spoken at any given moment in time. It is a wonderful place to visit but I'm so glad I live in Boise! And I'm so glad we got to see Hamilton with the original cast. I can't help but feel like that evening was special, almost magical.
Til the next adventure!

Lady Liberty off in the distance. It was strange to me that all around the Statue of Liberty were shipping docks with cranes and it looked very industrial.

Jeff and I stopped to enjoy a cold lemonade in the park and this was our view. It was really quite lovely. There was a fantastic park that went along for over a mile along the water's edge with a path. It was a great place to walk and check things out.
