Made it!

All flights went good, the luggage showed up. Had a little snafu with meeting the guide that was supposed to take us to the hotel. Almost took one taxi but decides he seemed suspicious. My gut said don't get in his cab. So we pulled the bags out of the trunk and found a more reputable looking cab, and are now at the hotel. Next on the list is finding a map and checking things out. Yay! Will take camera and pictures!

Backpacking in the White Clouds

I know, not as exotic or exciting as SE Asia, but it was a great trip.  Jeff and I headed out after work on Friday and drove up to Challis.  It gave us one last chance for a bed and a shower before the trip. As we were driving in the smoke was terrible.  Jeff was joking that we were driving in to Mordor.  Challis a small town that it appears no one has ever heard of and stayed at a small hotel for $45 for the night.  We found a great little breakfast place on our way out of town and then drove another hour to the trail head.  The smoke on the drive up to Challis. Switzerland 2018: Day 2

Our first full day in Switzerland! It rained in the night leaving a nice view in the morning. I started the morning with a trip out for breakfast.   After a day of forcing Wren to not wander off, sit for long periods of time and a lot of rule enforcement we thought a casual breakfast in the apartment would be much more fun than going out to breakfast so I set out for food and Jeff watched the littles.   On Tuesdays they have some sort of a farmers’ market which started right outside of our lodgings.   I took a quick trip back to the train station since there is a large grocery store that is near the station for some juice and milk and then grabbed some amazing looking berries, bread and cheese from the market for breakfast.   It was delicious!   Market stalls My basket of berries, beautiful and delicious! Switzerland 2018: Day 3

I started the day with a morning run.   This is something I love to do on vacation and even more so now that we have kids.   It gives me a little much needed “me” time, I get to cover a lot of ground and (TIM?) it keeps my digestive system happy. Sunrise. Such a nice morning. This covered bridge is called the Chapel bridge and was originally built in 1365. Inside of the bridge. The bridge is unique because of the paintings in the eaves.  The paintings are from the 1700's.  There were originally 147.  Unfortunately, many of the paintings were destroyed in a fire in 1993.  Only 30 of them have been fully restored.
