Rolling hill fun!
Has some internet problems last night so this is a morning blog. Yesterday was another great day of riding. There were lots of rolling hills with a net downhill for the day. 52 miles and 1500 ft of climbing.
Volcano in the distance.
The whole day was volcano sightings. We saw at least 8.
Its a little hard to see in this photo but there are 4 volcanos if you look closely.
The day was beautiful and sunny. It truely felt like summer. No need for windbreakers or knee warmers. The only downside is yesterday revieled that the need for sunblock is very high in Chile due to the thin spot in the ozone layer over the country. The previous day I somehow forgot sunblock and now my arms and legs look like a lobster. Lesson learned. A short time outside here NEEDS UV protection.
We chanced towns and are now in Pucon which is a very popular turist destination for Chileans. It is located between a volcano and a lake. Here are pictures out our hotel window.
This volcano is active and you can hike to the top and look inside and see the lava. I wish we had tome but it is a long hike over glaciers and we are all booked up. Still, it is fun to see the smoke comming out of the top of it!
We topped the day off with another fantastic dinner and Chilean wine!
