New York, day 3 and 4

Image
Day three started with a trek to find dim sum.  Jeff and I love dim sum and there is no good place to get it in Boise so when we are in a big city it's one of those things we often do.  It was an easy subway ride and walk to the restaurant and the dim sum was delicious! After stuffing ourselves completely, we were back to walking.  We walked past the financial district to the Brooklyn Bridge.  This is a lovely bridge.  The cables form a cool looking lattice and there is a large pedestrian/bike walkway that is above the cars.  The view back at the city is wonderful, you can see the Statue of Liberty and the Manhattan Bridge.  Definitely a worthwhile walk! Looking back at the financial district from the bridge through the cables.  You can see the new World Trade Center building.  The Manhattan bridge.  Looking up through the cables. Back towards the downtown area with the Empire state building.   Lady Liberty off ...

New York, first two days.

Jeff (husband) told me on mother's day that he got us tickets to go see Hamilton on Broadway and arranged for my parents to watch Wren (our baby) while we were on vacation.  Here is our trip! We knew that people would be camping out all day for the good fireworks locations so we decided to try to beat the crazy crowds and found a private venue that was in a taller building to watch fireworks.  It was on the upper east side.  We showed up with a long line to enter the building, mostly due to a tiny elevator and 21 floors to go up.  Once...

Thoughts on traveling with a baby

Disclaimer:  I am not a child care professional or Dr. or a person with any professional experience with children.  I'm a mom who traveled with a baby and here are some of the things that worked or didn't when we traveled with our baby.  I take no responsibility for anything you choose to do with your baby. Things that worked well: - Airport picnic between flights.  We put a blanket down for Wren to play and crawl around on so that she wasn't licking the dirty carpet but could move.  It worked great.  - This one might sound obvious but, listen to your baby and make your plans flexible.  We had stuff planned that we didn't do because we didn't think Wren was up for it or the weather was bad enough that we didn't think it was a good idea.  We moved on and found other things to do and had a great time. - Cover outlets with tape so that you have another couple of seconds to get to the outlet before the baby can put her fingers in the holes. ...
