Porto Portugal - Day 2

Today started out with some tired parents due to the 2 hour sleep interruption in the middle of the night when Wren decided it was time to start singing songs and having loud conversations with her stuffed puppy but my lower back was feeling really tight so I decided to take a run.  It was a little rainy at first and I almost talked myself out of if but it was really very pleasant.  I headed out for about a 6.5 mile run and these were my 2 favorite pictures from my morning excursion.

This is the town across the river from Porto.  The rain cleared and the sun came out to make the colors lovely as I was finishing up my run.

Fishing boats.
After getting cleaned up and eating breakfast we decided to rent bikes and ride on the other side of the river.  Wren really enjoyed the bike ride yesterday and we were able to see so much that we went for a repeat.

Taking a ferry ride across the river. Wren kept singing the "motor boat" song. She also busted through to try and drive the boat.  She thought the 5 minute boat ride was awesome.

Rocky beach.  I took this really quick while we were checking out some lunch options.  The first place we looked was a little smoky so we decide to keep riding.
Riding horses at a playground as we were deciding where to eat lunch.
We found a fantastic lunch place with very good local food. We had beef that was cooked on a long metal stick and meat cooked in a bread thing.  I know, sounds not super appealing but it was awesome!

Wren playing with a Portuguese girl after lunch at another playground.
One thing we love about Portugal so far is the huge number of playgrounds.  We rode maybe 9 miles each way and passed 4 different playgrounds.  We stopped at 2.  It made it really easy to keep Wren happy and it was fun for us too.

There was a small monastery that was only reachable during low tide.  It was very pretty and called Capela do Senhor da Pedra.  It was a pagan chapel before it was converted to a Christian site.  It was built in the 1600's.  I thought it was cool looking and was our turnaround site.

The ride was very windy and we had a head wind the whole way out and a tail wind on the way back.  We got back in less than half the time it took to ride out there.

Waves and rocks and ocean views.

We got back to the apartment and got Wren down for a nap and since they were so good yesterday we decide to eat eclairs again.  Vacationing is difficult but someone has to support local businesses...

We finished off the day with a evening walk and a fantastic dinner of tapas and wine.  Wren loved the pasta and orange juice.  Hopefully sleep goes a little better tonight, we have another fun day planed tomorrow.
