Portugal - Beaches sun rise to sun set

I decided to get up before sun rise this morning and take a longer run along the ocean.  There were some trails that sounded interesting.  You might be thinking "what kind of crazy lady gets up before sunrise on vacation to exercise?".  Well, there are several reasons why I run on vacation.  Mostly, I get to see more if I get out and run.  Since I'm traveling with a toddler, the pace at which we move has slowed down a whole lot and I don't get to see or do as much during Wren's waking hours.  However, if I get up and run, I get to see those things I'd otherwise miss out on. Jeff is happy to have a lazy morning snuggling Wren, which is something he considers a treat.  It also helps with some back issues I've been having this year.  And, for me, running outside without a stroller is a treat that I normally only get on Saturday mornings.  The rest of the time it's a jogging stroller or the treadmill, bleh.  Anyhow, So I ran about 11 miles this morning on trails along the coast.  About half of that was decent trail and pretty and the rest of it was really narrow, hard to find the trail and too inland to see the coast.  The trail was very sandy so it was difficult running.  Here are a couple pics from the run.

This was worth waking up early for!

This was one of the better sections of trail.  Sandy but at least I could find it!

After I got back, and showered I had just enough time for a super quick breakfast and then I had to drop Jeff off at his surf lesson.  He took a half day surf lesson at one of the beaches we visited yesterday.  He had a great time. Wren and I played on the beach during part of the lesson and then Jeff met up with us for some more sand play.

Wren had an absolutely fabulous time and has been asking for "more beach" all evening.

We got cleaned up and Wren took a nap at the hotel while Jeff and I enjoyed a little chill time.  We had some family snuggles when Wren woke up.

We are the cutest!
We got cleaned up for dinner and we took a detour to the coast to see yet some more costal cliffs.

Me with my dress getting blown by the wind and feeling all ocean goddess-y.  It was a lovely walk.  Wren was in the pack.  because of the cliffs.  That sea gull is trying to get in on the picture, lol.
We had a fantastic dinner, so good! We stopped one more time at some cliffs to see the sun set.  It was a bit foggy so not ideal but still worth the detour back to the hotel.

And with that, I say good night!  I'm actually planning on sleeping a little later tomorrow and it looks like I might get to sleep a little sooner too.  Yay, vacation sleeping!!!
