Switzerland 2018: Day 1
By the time we made it out of the airport and to our train
it was close to 13:00. After an hour on
the train our little band of weary travelers were happy to check in our hotel in
Luzern. The walk to our hotel seemed horrendously long but when I did it the next day with a little more sleep and without kids and luggage, it wasn't very long at all.
A shower and clean clothes did much to
restore our outlook and energy levels.
We went exploring in the afternoon, saw the two famous covered bridges in
Luzern and ate gelato. We had a nice
dinner at the patio restaurant on the ground floor of our hotel. Wren fell asleep while waiting for food. I have never seen her so tired. She would be just sitting there and her eyes
kept rolling up in her head and she would wobble and start to fall over. I finally just had her put her head down and
she was out the whole time Jeff and I ate.
After dinner we got kids straight to bed. I think Jeff and I only managed to stay up another
half hour. I was falling asleep when
singing a lullaby to Flynt. The first
half of the evening didn’t go so well.
Wren woke up twice and Flynt was up every hour to hour and a half the
first part of the evening. There was one
stretch where Flynt was really fighting going back to sleep and was up for
about an hour and a half. Clocks chiming
in the distance in the day time is charming but at night when it is marking
your failure to get your kid back to sleep in 15 minute intervals they are
significantly less so. Miraculously, the
second half of the night both kids went out and stayed out until after 8 in the
morning. Jeff and I got some good sleep
and we are all ready to start day 2 of vacation!

So far, Flynt seems pretty happy in the pack |
The whole family on the bridge. Not a very good picture of any of us but we are on vacation! |
