Switzerland 2018: Day 4

I skipped out for a couple of last pictures of Lucerne before packing up.

Beautiful details on the buildings.

I'm the head packer in the family and the person who will actually notice the random crayon that Wren decided to put on a shelf under a fake plant.  Changing locations takes a little more effort with kids.  Once we had a bit of breakfast and were all packed up we headed back to the train station.  The walk seemed so much shorter when we were caught up on sleep and knew where we were going.

We grabbed food for an early lunch/snack, and ate through the first leg to Bern.  We had a slightly frantic transfer, 7 bags and 2 kids is a lot to move in 6 minutes but we made it.  We also learned that Switzerland train stations are awesome.  At most train stations in Switzerland with multiple platforms there is a ramp so that you can roll your luggage and not have to figure out how to carry it down (or up) stairs.  We of course didn't realize this and Jeff started down the stairs and Wren was trying to catch up to him.  I was trying to catch Wren when a man told me about the ramp.  I told him I couldn't use the ramp since I was trying to follow Wren and Jeff.  He took pity on our crazy family and helped carry bags down the stairs. I was grateful for a little help since I couldn’t carry all the bags down the stairs by myself in one trip and I was trying to figure out what to do.

The second train we were on was a larger train and actually had a play car.  That's right!  The train had a slide and some play equipment for kids on it.  Wren was so excited!  It was such a cool thing.  The only downside was every other train on the trip was a disappointment because it didn't have a play car.

The important thing is we made all of our connections and made it to Zermatt.  We dragged luggage around the town and found our apartment.  We had a little problem getting checked in but once we figured it all out, the view from our room and deck is AMAZING!!!  We can see the Matterhorn (jump up and down clapping and grinning).  Its so crazy, it seems fake to have such an iconic landmark outside your window.  It’s just right there!

We had a nice wander around town and stopped at another playground.  Wren was a super trouper again today with our 3.5 hours of train travel and we thought it would be nice for her to get to move a bit.  Again it was a playground with some small danger.  I was really impressed at how much more confident Wren is getting at tackling new things.  She had a ton of fun and I could see the Matterhorn so I was pretty happy.

Awesome zip line at the play ground.

Jeff couldn't help himself and got the kick in slow motion, lol!

We had a fabulous dinner at an Italian place.  They were super kind to us with our little kids and gave us free Champagne and grappa.  Add our glass of wine to it and we are happy parents!
Again, kids are sleeping, time for me to join them…
