Switzerland 2018: Day 9
Today was a travel day.
We packed everything all up and headed out to Lauterbrunnen which is in
the Interlaken area. We took a train to
Tasch and then got a rental car and drove the 2.5 hours to our new
location. Both kids slept in the car
which was nice.
The views along the drive were amazing so here are some
cruddy car window pictures. The coolest
part is there is a train that goes through a tunnel in the middle of the
alps. You drive your car on to the train
and then park your car and then the train drives you through the tunnel. It is so cool! The last car and the car in front of the
engine is open on one side and that is flush with the platform so you drive on
and off the train via that car. The
first car pulls all the way up and each car pulls right up to the car in front
and when the train gets to the other side you all drive off. I thought this was a really interesting
solution so that they didn’t have to make a second tunnel.
These pictures are all from the car train.

Lauterbrunnen is in a beautiful valley in the Jungfrau
region. Big mountains, waterfalls,
glaciers. Its pretty awesome. We took a short walk along a gravel path to
dinner and had some fantastic food. Jeff
and I each had a bowl of pumpkin soup which was amazing and split the 3 meat
platter which was ibex, boar and venison.
It was REALLY good. Wren was
super happy since we let her order off of the kids menu instead of sharing with
us. She had chicken nuggets for the
first time and french-fries. She was
excellent at dinner tonight. Flynt was
not. Poor guy was having a rough evening
so Jeff and I had to take turns eating and dancing around with him. He seems to be a little congested today. Hopefully he feels better tomorrow.
I might be in for a rough night. TTFN…
